About the event
Reproductive Justice Maryland is excited to share the Baltimore world premiere of You Don’t Know My Name, a documentary from filmmaker Tommy Franklin exploring incarceration, birth, family separation, and the fight for justice for incarcerated mothers and families.
The film follows Tommy’s deeply personal journey searching for his birth mother, who gave birth to him while incarcerated, while also sharing the stories of mothers who experienced family separation through incarceration and later became prison doulas and advocates for change.
Reproductive justice includes the right to have children, not have children, and to parent our children in safe, healthy, and supportive environments. The experiences of incarcerated pregnant and parenting people must be part of that conversation.
