Mini Pink Pantry

Fight period poverty from your own front yard.

As a DIY version of the Little Pink Pantry, the Mini Pink Pantry is a way to provide free period products to the your community from outside your front door.

While you can find a Little Pink Pantry in a public or community space as the result of a partnership with a local organization or business, each Mini Pink Pantry is created and maintained by a volunteer individual or family and found along a sidewalk or street in front of a residence.

How to Start a Mini Pink Pantry

Step 1
Choose a Location

Placing the pantry where it's visible, accessible, and welcoming, will ensure community members feel comfortable using it. Place your pantry street-side in front of your home, ideally near the sidewalk or curb. This helps ensure: • High visibility • Easy access • Neighborhood connection • Safety + convenience

Step 4
Add Your Official Plaque

Displaying an official Mini Pink Pantry plaque helps us build visibility, trust, and connection, ensuring your pantry can have the greatest possible impact. Once your pantry is installed, RJM will provide your Mini Pink Pantry plaque. This helps identify your pantry as part of the broader RJM menstrual equity network. Once your plaque is attached, we can officially add your pantry to our digital map and directory of Pink Pantries across Maryland. The map allows community members in need to easily find and access your pantry while bringing you into the statewide community of menstrual equity advocates.

Step 2
Acquire Your Pantry

There are several ways to build your Pantry so that it can accommodate your space, budget, style, and how hands-on you'd like to be. As with Little Free Libraries, your Mini Pink Pantry can also be upcycled from an existing container. We also like the many pre-made kit options. They’re great for first- time pantry hosts, easy to customize, and arrive quickly. Pre-made kits range in price from $40 - $150

Step 5
Stock Your Pantry

It's time to stock your Mini Pink Pantry with period products! Frequently needed items include: • Tampons • Menstrual cups • Maxi pads • Wet wipes • Panty liners • Menstrual discs

Step 3
Install Your Pantry

Some pantries can simply be placed on the ground or mounted directly to an exterior wall, while others require installing a post. No-post options include: • Wooden pantry box on extended legs • Pantry mounted on a post inserted into a flower pot or planter box For options that require a post: • Acquire and mount a 4”×4”, six-foot wooden post • Prepare to dig safely • Dig and set your post

Step 6
Spread The Word

Let your neighbors know about your pantry! Community engagement is what transforms a pantry from a single project into a sustainable, shared resource. The goal is for each pantry to become community-stocked, with supplies donated by the people who live, work, and gather nearby. The more people who know about your pantry, the more likely it is to stay stocked and thriving. Invite neighbors to: • Drop off products anytime • Share the pantry link or map location • Organize mini drives or periodic restocks • Check on the pantry when they walk by By starting a pantry, you’ve taken a meaningful stand against period poverty. Your effort increases dignity, access, and comfort for those who need it most - and strengthens your local community at the same time.
